Fifteen players have accepted invitations to participate in the 2005 USA Men’s World Championship Qualifying Team Trials. Of the 15, seven have D-League experience. They will vie for a spot on the 12-member USA Basketball squad that will compete in the FIBA Americas World Championship Qualifying Tournament in August.

More than 60 former National Basketball Association Development League players are currently on 2005 NBA summer league rosters. Since the league's inception, there have been more than 200 D-League player appointments to NBA summer league rosters.

Huntsville, which ceased operations in the D-League on May 4, has been relocated to Albuquerque, N.M. Albuquerque will inherit the Flight’s season-ending roster and will be able to protect up to four players from that list.

USA Basketball has named Joey Meyer, head coach of the two-time champion Altitude, and Dennis Johnson, head coach of the Flame, as assistant coaches for the USA Basketball’s 2005 Men’s World Championship Qualifying Team.
