We see the effects of our planet’s changing climate constantly: extreme weather, shifting habitats, crop failures, human displacement, disease outbreaks, infrastructure damage, supply chain disruption, endangered species. The reports are all damning—it’s a red alert—but the world isn’t acting fast enough. What now?

At WIRED we believe in the power of human ingenuity, coupled with technology, to take on impossible problems. We also know that solutions require passionate, big thinkers and determined efforts, from the global to the local scale.

This September in San Francisco, we’re hosting RE:WIRED Green, our biggest event of the year. Returning to an in-person gathering for the first time since 2019, this year we'll focus entirely on humanity’s biggest challenge. We’re bringing together the world’s smartest minds—scientists, innovators, activists, changemakers—to explore how humanity can sustain the rich array of life that exists on our planet.

We believe that together we can do something about climate change—there’s no other choice. Join us.

Now she works to accelerate scientific breakthroughs and steward cellular agriculture such that it serves the public good.","changed":""},"link_social":false,"modified_at":null,"modified_by":null,"social_links":[{"url":"","platform":""}],"base_language":"en","original_image":"https://web.archive.org/web/20221107183430/https://uploads.brandlive.com/d9f5cc85-2b12-4c29-ba06-d551579e69d4/1660687546910/1660687546495_w600_h600.jpg"},{"image":"https://web.archive.org/web/20221107183430/https://uploads.brandlive.com/d9f5cc85-2b12-4c29-ba06-d551579e69d4/1660687469454/1660687469255_w540_h540.jpg","status":1,"channel":100987,"speaker":17440,"archived":false,"job_title":{"en":"President and Chair, Mission Blue","base":"President and Chair, Mission Blue","changed":""},"last_name":"Earle","module_id":69802,"attributes":[],"created_at":"2022-08-16T22:04:31.53521","created_by":12350,"first_name":"Sylvia","description":{"en":"Sylvia Earle is the president and chair of Mission Blue, an explorer in residence at the National Geographic Society, founder of Deep Ocean Exploration and Research Inc., chair of the Advisory Council for the Harte Research Institute, and former chief scientist of NOAA.\n\nAuthor of more than 225 publications and leader of more than 100 expeditions with over 7,500 hours underwater, Earle is a graduate of Florida State University with MA and PhD degrees from Duke University and 32 honorary degrees.
