Israeli naval forces intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla's Spring 2026 mission in international waters near Crete on April 29-30, boarding over 20 vessels more than 600 miles from Gaza, detaining approximately 175 activists, and diverting them to Israel or Greece for processing. This enforcement of Israel's longstanding naval blockade on Gaza—consistent with precedents like the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident—has prompted international condemnations and protests but no breakthroughs allowing passage. With activists now releasing and returning home as of May 1, trader consensus at 97.7% for "No" reflects scant time remaining until May 31 for any flotilla members to reach Gaza shores, barring an improbable policy reversal, new vessel deployment, or legal injunction overriding blockade enforcement.
